FAQ’s — Frequently Asked questions

Please find below the answers to frequently asked questions. If you have a question not answered here please do not hesitate to contact us.

Tours

Q: Is airfare included?

A: We find that people like to make their own air arrangements from the U.S. and Canada to Europe and often use their air miles. We will plan everything for your tour from arrival to departure. We do, however, handle airfare between European countries included as part of your tour package.

Q: Do you do self-drive tours?

A: No. We are full-service tour operator who plans a complete private tour package for you and your group. We do not offer hotels only or transport only—we offer full private tour packages including all hotels, entrance fees, experiences and driver-guides.

Q: Why is the cost different for 2 people versus 4 people?

A: There is a certain fixed cost for tours (hotels, day rates for drivers, guides, etc) that is split between the number of people on your tour. The lesser the number of people, the more the per person cost will be, the more number of people then that cost reduces.

Q: Are the tours suitable for people with mobility issues?

A: The tours are quite manageable and we would be happy to advise you further as to the suitability of each tour before booking. Our vehicles are not wheelchair accessible.

Q: Are airport transfers included?

A: Yes. Airport transfers with Meet and Greet inside the terminal are included for both your arrival and your departure.

Baggage

Q: Are there any baggage restrictions?

A: Our vehicles generally have space for one medium size suitcase and one carry-on per person. Soft sided bags are preferred.

Insurance

Q: Is Travel Insurance included?

A: No. You must purchase comprehensive travel insurance cover for cancellation, medical expenses, repatriation personal accident, personal luggage, money and public liability before you travel.

Accommodation

Q: What are the differences between your two hotel types?

A: We offer a luxury tour experience in which you would stay in 5-star, top hotels and a superior experience in which you would stay in very nice and very comfortable 3- and 4-star bed and breakfasts which tend to have a more local flair with local hosts.

Q: Is there a single supplement?

A: Yes. The regular price is based on two sharing a double or twin bedded room. Please inquire for the extra cost of sole occupancy.

Q: Do all the accommodations have hair dryers in the room?

A: Yes, all the overnight accommodations provide hairdryers.

Q: How are hotels in the United Kingdom graded?

A: Compared to the United States, a UK or Irish 3-star ranking is closer to US 4-star, and UK or Irish 4 star closer to US 5-star. Some hotels only miss out on a star as they don’t have a swimming pool or some such facility. The rating system is not necessarily a reflection of the standard. All of our hotel choices are of unique character, and most range from UK or Irish 3-star to UK or Irish 5-star.

Vehicles

Q: What types of vehicle do we use?

A: We use luxury Range Rovers (2 to 3 passengers) and Mercedes Luxury Touring V-Class Vans (4-6 passengers).. We use a long wheel-base version of the Mercedes which offers extra space for luggage. For larger groups we use 16 seater Mercedes or Ford mini-buses or luxury motor coaches.

Currency and Credit Cards

Q. What currency is required on the tours?

A. Euros will be required for all Irish  and Europen tours, and British Pounds Sterling for all tours to England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Q. Which credit cards are accepted and where can I get cash?

A. There are plenty of ATM's along the way where you can withdraw cash as you need it. We do advise that you let your bank know you are traveling, so that they expect the payments abroad.  Most places do accept credit cards. Please note that while Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, other cards such as American Express are not, and Discovery is rarely accepted.

Diets

Q. If a passenger has special dietary requirements (vegan, gluten intolerance etc.), can they be catered for easily?

A. Most places cater for specialized dietary requirements so that should be no problem.

Electricity

Q. Are adapters required?

A. Yes, you will need an adapter. Both the UK and Ireland use a three pin plug, with square pins. The voltage is 240v so you need to check that any appliances you are bringing over can work on a 240v system. It should say somewhere on the device. Generally phone, tablet and laptop chargers are fine but hair dryers and flat or curl irons are not unless they are of dual voltage variety. All lodgings provide hairdryers.
